MLD's is a noted Professor of Biology and Marine Biology Field Specialist, with 25-plus years of experience. Shari's passion for our ocean's inhabitants have propelled her to the pinnacle of success in her chosen field, with more than 100 published articles to her credit, and a soon-to-be-published book in the works. Having been diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2006 and spending 8 gruelling months in the hospital, she continues to overcome tremendous obstacles and life challenges. Being a single mother of 2 children, working full-time in her field, and dealing with the struggles of a life-long disability, she has become my heroine. I admire her for not only the tremendous courage and positive outlook she portrays, but also in her tenacity for sheer survival. My admiration and respect for her is only equal to her limitless passion for saving the marine mammals of this planet. Besides, she's my best friend!
